An abbreviation - A common nickname for the Jewish communities in the cities of Shapira, Vermeiza and Magentza on the banks of the Rhine River. "The things I saw there, you wouldn't see in horror movies or even in movies about the Holocaust. Movies don’t come close to what I saw. They really don't come close to it," Reuven, who has been working at ZAKA as a vehicle and logistics manager for twenty years, told me. "We've been through a lot at ZAKA but never experienced things like this. Smashed heads, amputations, it's just unimaginably horrifying." I tried to find out where Reuven was mainly exposed to the horrors he described, and he immediately used Kibbutz Be'eri as an example. He told me about the dental clinic belonging to the kibbutz, where, according to him, mainly children, but also adults, escaped from the inferno. "There was a battle there. Two adults tried to protect the doors and windows, and in the end, the terrorists just threw some grenades, blew up the place, and shot all the children." Reuven said that even though the terrorists had already blown up all the glass and managed to invade the clinic and harm the children, it was not enough for them. According to him, their game was to pass child after child, shoot a bullet in their head, and move on. With faint hope, I nevertheless tried to extract some optimistic information from Reuven, some kind of miracle that happened in the clinic. "So, they just killed all the children?" I asked as I prayed for some good news. "All the children who were in the clinic were murdered. No one survived. There were seven children there, and we took out seven bodies. They were all murdered." I asked him to tell me why the children went to the dental clinic, of all places, in the midst of the inferno. He explained that it seemed that they simply fled there to survive, which, in the end, was far from reality. I am the youngest sibling in my family, and I have four beloved nephews. They are dear to my heart, and without them, my world would be completely different. I felt the need to find out the ages of the children who were in the clinic and more general information about these murdered children. "From the age of zero to the age of one hundred. There is no age here. We met all ages. Babies, toddlers, children, adults, the elderly. They spared no one. Anyone they couldn't kidnap or didn’t interest them, they simply murdered. They murdered in cold blood. There is not one house they did not burn." The tragedy of Kibbutz Be'eri did not end at the clinic. Not by a long shot. "When I arrived at one of the houses in the kibbutz, I saw an elderly man, probably around the age of seventy-five. They simply cut off all his body parts, threw a grenade at him and left. The first thing they did was abuse him. That was their game, their fun." Instinctively and out of unfortunate curiosity, I asked Reuven if the abuse of that elderly man he was talking about took place. At the same time, he was alive, and Reuven nodded his head. "Yes, he was alive, and I believe he was killed with an ax(e), according to the marks on his body.”

When I tried to find out which parts of the body were cut, he refused to answer specifically but stated, "They cut off all his body parts." I insisted on understanding the circumstances of the incident, and Reuven gave me some more information. "They cut off his body parts. Tied him up in the safe room, cut up his body, threw a grenade and left." The hellish sights did not end for him. "On the second or third day after the massacre, we found a woman hiding under the bed." Reuven, who immediately asked her how she was, said that the woman replied that she was fine, but she had a hard time dealing mentally with what was done to her foreign employee. "After calming her down, I went into the house and saw what happened. It was horrifying." "What did you see?" I asked, trying to understand the details of the incident, but Reuven still faced the horrors. "It's hard for me to tell this, very hard for me." After a few seconds of silence, he chose to continue. "They cut off her head by stomping on it, not with an axe." I tried to picture the event in my mind, but I couldn't really do it. "Is that something that can even be done?" I asked. Reuven replied that it turns out that whoever is cruel enough can. "We just saw the marks of the footprints and realized what happened." In an attempt to obtain more details and preserve that foreign worker's memory and, of course, to commemorate what happened, I had to keep insisting. Some would say that I even lacked sensitivity. “The stomping of a foot cut the head off?” I turned to Reuven with concern. "The head was cut off from the body, yes. Part of it was torn with a persistent stomp of a foot. You can see the cruelty toward the victim," he said.
